Yesterday, my Family and I visited my Mother in Law's church for Sunday service. The sermon that was preached spoke to my heart in so many ways.
The sermon was about David and Goliath..... comparing the battles we have today with the battle that David had with Goliath. David put his whole faith in God when he went to fight Goliath..... he did not wear the armour that was offered to him...instead he took only 5 smooth stones and a sling shot..... He had faith that his God would protect him and make him victorious. When David went to fight Goliath he RAN to him..... RAN... he was not afraid.... he knew God was with him.
Like David, I am faced with Giants like Goliath.... disobedient kids, finances, fear... you name it, they are GIANTS! God is waiting on me to call him for help! My God can handle anything and.... he already knows what help I need.... I just need to ask. The devil tries to control me all the time, I just need to remember that the devil was defeated at the Cross and can do me no harm.

The sermon yesterday reminded me that I am not alone and that no battle is to big for God!! Ask him for help..... He is ready and available.... any time....day or night!

If you are a Mom who is dedicated to making your house a home, please visit my other blog at thefourscarbarys.blogspot.com for a link to a great email that I received. Look for the post entitled Jill Savage Post.

I think you might find encouragement from reading it!

An Answered Prayer!

My husband's workplace has been like a zoo lately... (like many others I am sure) He and another co-worker has been having prayer before they get started every morning for the last 2 weeks.

Last night he asked me if I new of a good Bible verse that he could use for this morning. Of course I said yes!! (LPM Scripture Team to the rescue!!)

I think it is so wonderful that my husband has started to do this at work. For him to show his faith by using scripture and prayer is a big step in his walk with the Lord. Since we moved he has gotten away from using it like he did in the past.

I know that God will bless his efforts and show him that He is the only one to lean on and trust during these days.

Thanks for your prayers for him...

God Bless!

I am a few days late with picking my 2nd scripture for the month of February for the LPM memory team. Better late than never I guess!

If your interested in joining in... it is not to late.... visit Beth Moore's blog at livingproofministries.blogspot.com for more information. It is such a peace to know that scripture can be used to fight for us. What a powerful sword!

A Little Behind

I have been so busy catching up from our weekend that I haven't decided on my next memory verse for the 15th. I plan on looking through the Bible tonight and seeing what I can find. I will post the verse tomorrow. It is hard to believe that it is already time for the 2nd verse for February..... Boy does time fly!

My family and I will be taking a much needed break this weekend. I wanted leave you with a few thought on this Valentines Day weekend.
1. Tell those you love that you love them.
2. Go out of your way to make the day special for them.
3. Hug them tight.
4. Tell them one reason you love them so much.
5. Enjoy every minute with them....don't take them for granted...life can change in an instance.
6. Thank God that they are a part of your life.
HAPPY VALENTINES DAY! I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

So far so good!

Well, today is Thursday and I have to say we are daily working on our Bible study! I have been getting up with by Dear Hubby at 5:30a.m. each morning..... I am totally NOT a morning person. Just the mere fact that my eyes can open at that time of the morning is a miracle in itself!
Is it working out great because I can get what I need to get done before the kiddos wake up. I love to spend a little time on the computer before they get up and do a load of laundry and dishes. It sure does make a happier momma when I do!
Thanks to all that are keeping up with our journey..... leave a comment... I would love to hear from you!

Terrific Tuesday

I always feel great on Tuesday! Mondays are so busy for me. The kids and I go to Bible study on Monday night and we feel so good when we come home!!!

I started thinking about how my weeks have been going lately. On Monday, I feel blah. By Monday evening I am refreshed again. From Tuesday until Thursday I am doing my Bible study daily like I should. By Friday I am focused on the weekend and any quiet time with God is gone! Shame on me.

This week I have decided to try to make a conscious effort to stay on track with my quiet time. The Bible study that we are doing is designed to have 6 days of study in the Bible. Why can't I do this! I am determined to do it.... obedience brings blessing!

I will let you know if I stay on track....... any suggestions?

I have followed her ever since and find here to be funny and insightful. Hearts at Home focuses on Motherhood and the value of Family.
This morning I had an email from her about a new book discussion opportunity based on her new book "Real Moms, Real Jesus".
For more information about the book discussion, go to http://www.jillsavage.org/. The Hearts at Home website is www.hearts-at-home.org. It looks like it would be a great opportunity. You can also sign up for her blog/emails..... some of her stories will lighten your load and make you laugh!

My third Memory Verse for 2009

Visual Poetry - ImageChef.com

I wanted to share my next Memory verse with you.

You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all you heart.
Jeremiah 29:13

I love this verse! It is so amazing to me how God brings these memory verses back up in my mind daily. I have used the first two for this year so many times. God brings them back to mind a lot when I lay down for the night. I think about these verses over and over in my mind as I try to fall asleep. It is so comforting to quote scripture and really know it from memory! I encourage you to take the challenge!

My first two memory verses for 2009:

I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress, my God: on Him will I lean and rely, and in Him will I trust!
Psalm 91:2

Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for your Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.
Joshua 1:9

Here I Go!

Welcome to my personal accountability blog! I have found that I am a professional procrastinator.... have been all my life. One of my biggest fears is that I am passing that "curse" on to my two kids. I have started so many things in my life and have eventually gotten around to finishing them.
I started this blog thing toward the end of 2008 and found Beth Moore's blog at livingproofministries.blogspot.com. She has challenge women to learn 24 scripture by memory in the year 2009. That is 2 memory verses a month. If you would like more information.... please visit her blog. Like she says, it is never to late to join in.
This blog is my way of being accountable to that challenge as well as other spiritual areas of my life. I have found over the last few months that I need a change and I plan on using this to make that happen. I plan on using this blog to grow closer to Christ by being held accountable for reading the Bible daily, doing my daily Bible study and by reading other blogs to get encouragement!
I love to be creative and have enjoyed working on my other blog..... for those who might be reading this that know me..... you may be surprised at what you read. I keep things hidden a lot. I feel more at ease typing my feelings rather than trying to talk about them. I have never been good with words.
I decided to have two different blogs.... that way I can keep things straight in my little ole brain! So hang on as I take this journey of STEPS CLOSER TO HIM!

Want to join me..... let me know! We can encourage each other AND hold each other accountable!
